Brilex GmbH of Brilon, Germany has released their Indoor Explosion Vent (flameless explosion vent) for Indoor explosion venting inside production buildings. After extensive testing and years of development work the Brilex Indoor Vent expands CMC Technologies' explosion protection capabilities and enables Brilex and CMC Technologies to provide a comprehensive range of explosion venting solutions. Brilex Indoor Explosion Vents combine a traditional explosion vent with a "stainless steel filter cage and ceramic filters " that acts as a flame arrester to prevent flame propagation inside the production area. Without the flame quenching capability, venting indoors is very dangerous and could significantly increase the risk of a secondary dust explosion. Please check with your insurer about your existing indoor explosion protection requirements.
The Indoor Vent was on display for the first time at EXPLORISK 2002 in Nuremberg Germany from October 8-11, 2002.
Indoor Explosion Vents are used where equipment such as silos, dust collectors, cyclones, sifters, dryers, storage bins and other related process equipment where dust clouds can be produced and there is a risk of a dust explosion. In the event that venting via ducting to a safe area is not feasible, then Indoor Explosion Venting or flameless explosion venting can be considered a cost effective option. Care must be taken that the enclosure must also be protected with explosion isolation techniques to prevent flame jet ignition inside the enclosure. All certification is based on ignition being initiated inside the enclosure to be protected. For explosion isolation techniques -see also our section on products by ATEX Explosion Protection in our products section
As part of this new product release , Brilex Indoor Explosion vents are available in rectangular or circular bolting configurations utilising Blilex type GE , domed single section design explosion vent.
